P-DTR® uses neural challenges specific to the involved dysfunctions and muscle tests, most often combined with proper stimulation of the deep tendon reflex, to make immediate and lasting advances toward restored function. If this information is incorrect, as is often the case, the brain makes its decisions based on bad information. The brain takes this feedback into account when making decisions regarding our movement, among other things. All incoming information from the body is sent to the brain for processing. The Body Mechanic® utilizes P-DTR® to deal with various neurologic dysfunctions of the body and the way they affect and modify our movement patterns and lead to pain. Spinal cord injuries, neuromuscular diseases, or diseases of the lower motor neuron tract can cause weak or absent reflexes. Among other things, it also works with problems of neural pathways, the energetic system of the body, metabolism, emotions, and the brain itself! P-DTR® doesn’t just work with receptors, though. Most physical therapy and other therapeutic modalities deal with the "hardware" of the body, neglecting the fact that much of the pain and dysfunction we experience is often actually a problem with our "software". Using a comprehensive system of muscle testing and neural challenges, involved receptors can be located and normal function can be quickly restored. Motor function is not just determined by the motor system, but rather is modified by the inputs of these receptors. This work recognizes that sensory receptors (such as those for touch, pressure, hot, cold, pain, etc.),Īnd the way the body processes the information from these receptors, is paramount in determining neuromuscular responses throughout the entire body.
